My journey with Ultimate Frisbee began 11 years ago. Back then, the sport was a mystery to most, and I had no idea it would become such a defining part of my life. It all started during a sports day at school when Meeta Ma’am introduced us to the game. I remember standing on the sidelines, watching senior players tossing the disc with precision and energy. It was fascinating—and it didn’t take long for my curiosity to turn into passion. Soon, a small group of us began practicing regularly. We weren’t just playing a sport; we were building something from the ground up, discovering the beauty of teamwork, strategy, and spirit. Over time, our hard work paid off. Our team won the Gheun Tak Silver Pool tournament in Mumbai and went on to become two-time national champions in 2017 and 2018. The highlight of my playing career came in 2016 when I had the honor of representing India as part of the U-20 team at the World Championships in Poland. Playing at the highest level fueled my love for Ultimate, but it also made me realize I wanted to give back to the sport. I transitioned into coaching—a challenging shift at first, as I struggled with communication and adapting to new responsibilities. But persistence and experience brought growth. Over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of coaching the Gujarat state team twice and most recently led the India U-20 team as head coach at a tournament in Malaysia. Seeking broader horizons, I spent a year coaching in Mumbai, which was a turning point for me. Managing schedules, navigating the city, and engaging with a diverse group of players taught me independence and broadened my perspective. Along the way, I made lifelong friends and opened doors to opportunities that continue to enrich my journey. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering support of my family, mentors, and friends—especially Jashan and my coaches. Their belief in me has been my foundation, and I’m forever grateful for their guidance and encouragement. Ultimate isn’t just a sport to me—it’s a defining part of who I am and the foundation of how I live my life. It has brought me respect, opportunities to explore India and beyond, and meaningful connections with people from all walks of life. It has instilled in me the true value of teamwork and community and, above all, given me a profound sense of purpose. Beyond the field, Ultimate has shaped me as a person, teaching me resilience in the face of challenges, the importance of communication and empathy, and how to build lasting relationships. The lessons I’ve gained from this sport extend far beyond the game, influencing how I approach both my personal and professional life every single day.
